New and Transfer Prescriptions
Order new or transfer (non-CVS) prescriptions for mail delivery at the Pharmacy Counter. Follow these steps to place your order:
  1. Create Your Account. Read Help With Your Account for more information.
  2. Complete the information for your Health Care Providers, Medical Profiles, and Prescription Insurance. Click Update on each page to save this information in Your Account.
  3. Find your Medication, and add it to your cart. If you are unable to read your prescription, simply add Unknown Medication to your shopping cart, and we will get the details from your health care provider. Proceed to Checkout, and provide all the required information.
    • If transferring your prescription, you must provide the prescription (Rx) number along with the name and phone number of your other pharmacy so that we can get the information we need to fill your order. If you prefer, you can call us with this information.
    • If filling a new prescription it will expedite your order if you have your doctor call in the prescription to us directly at (888) 607-4287, or you can mail the original written prescription to the address below.
  4. Confirm to place your prescription order.

If you have your original written prescription(s) and choose to mail it to us, please send it to:
CVS.com
P.O. Box G
Woonsocket, RI 02895

We protect the privacy and confidentiality of your personal information as outlined in our Privacy Policy, but if you are uncomfortable sharing this information via the Web, please call us so that we can get your information over the phone. Alternatively, you may print blank copies of the Health Care Providers, Medical Profiles, and Prescription Insurance pages, complete these forms, and mail them along with your new original written prescription to the address above. When we receive your information, we may contact you to get any additional information necessary to process your prescription order.

All new prescriptions are subject to verification by our pharmacists. We will not fill prescriptions for medications that are over a year old or prescriptions for controlled substances that are over 6 months old. If you have a prescription that exceeds these time limits, please obtain a new prescription from your health care provider.

Prescription Refills
We will not refill prescriptions that are over a year old. If your medication is a controlled substance, we will not fill prescriptions that are over 6 months old. Please obtain a new prescription from your health care provider if your prescription exceeds these time limits.

To order your prescription refills, you must provide the prescription (Rx) number and store number from your prescription label. Order prescription refills for mail delivery, or order In-store Refills and pick up your medications at your favorite CVS/pharmacy store.

Avoid interrupting your supply of medication by placing your refill order 7-10 days before your prescription is due to run out. Check with your prescription insurance company to determine if there are any restrictions on refill orders. Create Refill Reminders to receive email reminders when it is time to refill your prescriptions.

Prescription Verification
As a licensed pharmacy, we only fill prescriptions from health care providers licensed to prescribe medications in the United States. When we receive your prescription order, our pharmacists will contact your health care provider to verify the medication, quantity, administration, and dosage. We reserve the right to request the original written prescription on all orders, but it is required for Schedule II controlled substances.

Controlled Substances
The US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) classifies certain medications with the potential for psychological or physical dependence as Schedule I, II, III, IV, and V controlled substances; some states also recognize Schedule VI. CVS.com will not fill or refill prescriptions for controlled substances that are over 6 months old.

Every time you order a Schedule II medication, you must provide the original written prescription from your health care provider before we will fill the order. To order a Schedule II medication, mail the original written prescription to:
CVS.com
P.O. Box G
Woonsocket, RI 02895

Packages containing Schedule II medications are shipped Express and require an adult signature (18 years or older) for delivery. We cannot ship orders for Schedule II medications to post office boxes or APO addresses. Schedule III, IV, and V medications are shipped via certified mail and also require an adult signature for delivery. For more information, read Shipping Options and Costs Please review Special Prescription Deliveries for a list of Schedule II through V medications.

Refrigerated Medications
Some prescription medications must be refrigerated. To assure that these medications are shipped at the proper temperature, they are packaged with a cold gel pack and sent Express delivery. Packages containing refrigerated prescription medications also require an adult signature for delivery. Please review our list of Refrigerated Medications.

Prescription Prices
To find online prices for your prescription medications, click Rx Prices on the home page or at the Pharmacy Counter. These prices are valid only for orders shipped by CVS.com and are subject to change. Actual prices are calculated at the time of your order. Check with your local CVS/pharmacy for prices on In-store Refills because they may be different from the prices quoted online.

If you cannot find the medication, strength, or quantity you are looking for, request a Price Quote by completing and submitting the prescription price quote request form. We will call or email you--usually within 24 hours--with online prices for your prescription medications.

Prescription Insurance and Payment Options
Many health insurance plans use separate companies known as Pharmacy Benefits Managers for prescription coverage, so you may have a separate card for prescription benefits that is different from your medical insurance information. Some prescription insurance plans require that we charge you a copayment for your prescription medications.

When you provide us with insurance information, we will check your coverage and charge you only the copayment, if one is required by your particular prescription plan. If your insurance company does not cover your medication, or your insurance company is not part of our network, we will contact you to explore alternative payment options. For example, we could bill you directly and you could seek reimbursement from your insurance company. Insurance plans often reimburse either the entire cost or part of the cost of prescription medications purchased from out-of-network pharmacies.

If your insurance plan is not currently included in our network of providers, please check back with us often because we add new insurance companies every month. For more information on your specific prescription plan, please contact your insurance company directly.

We are only able to process Medicaid claims within Indiana; all other Medicaid claims must originate within your state. Copayments and coverage for Medicare claims vary, so it is our policy to ask Medicare customers to contact us directly before placing their prescription orders.

We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover/Novus, and American Express for prescription orders placed online and over the phone. We also honor debit cards that have a Visa or MasterCard symbol. If you do not wish to use your credit card online, call (888) 607-4287. We do not accept checks or check cards.

Prescription History
Like any pharmacy licensed to dispense prescription medications, we are required by law to keep your prescription order history on file even if you close your account. If you have questions regarding this requirement, please contact the Pharmacy Board in your state. If you need copies of your prescription records for online orders, please call us at (888) 607-4CVS (4287). For a record of orders for In-store Refills, please contact the CVS/pharmacy store where your orders were filled.

Medication Details
At the Pharmacy Counter, select the first letter of the name of your medication to access Medication Details, including uses, side effects, and drug interactions. To find out how your prescription medications may interact with vitamins, herbs, and nutraceuticals, go to the Pharmacy Counter and click Herb & Supplement Info.

Proper Disposal of Medications & Sharps
Click the name of your State Health Agency to get contact information to learn more about how to properly dispose of prescription medications or used sharps and needles in your state. An easy way to dispose of used needles and lancets is to put them in a non-breakable, heavy-duty plastic or metal container with a tight-fitting lid. When the container is full, dispose of it according to your local waste disposal rules. As always, if you have any questions or need further assistance, please contact us at (888) 607-4287, or email customercare@cvs.com.
