Daily Life Interactions for Aldactone 100mg Tablet

Elements of your daily lifestyle may have an effect on the medications you are taking. Drug interactions can result in unwanted side effects, reduce the effectiveness of your medicine or possibly increase the action of a particular medicine.

Major Lifestyle Interaction
Foods containing licorice and Aldactone 100mg Tablet(Spironolactone)
Foods containing licorice and Spironolactone(Spironolactone)
Licorice candy and foods containing licorice extract should be avoided when taking Spironolactone. Licorice can counteract (work against) the beneficial diuretic (resulting in water and sodium loss) actions of Spironolactone. If you are taking Spironolactone to treat high blood pressure or edema, and notice an increase in leg or ankle swelling (edema) or an increase in your blood pressure, tell your health care provider.
Moderate Lifestyle Interaction
Alcohol and Aldactone 100mg Tablet(Spironolactone)
Alcohol and Antihypertensives(Spironolactone)
Although an interaction is possible, Ethanol (alchohol) and Antihypertensive Agents (drugs used to reduce high blood pressure) may be used together. Ethanol or alchohol-containing beverages may increase the effects of Antihypertensive Agents on your blood pressure. If the blood pressure drops too low while taking Ethanol and Antihypertensive Agents, you may become dizzy or feel faint. To limit this interaction, avoid alcohol-containing beverages while taking medicines to lower your blood pressure. Do not stand or sit up too quickly. Contact your prescriber if you have dizziness which does not go away.
