"Beta-lactam antibiotics treat a variety of bacterial infections. They prevent the growth of bacteria by damaging the cell wall, bacteria's strongest protection from the environment.

Bacteria are everywhere. Some can be "good" bacteria but infections can occur when large amounts of any type of bacteria sneak past the body's natural defenses and multiply. Bacteria multiply by growing and splitting in half. One of the last steps in this process is sealing off the opening in the cell wall.

Beta&#45Lactam antibiotics have a commonly shaped structural piece, called the "Beta-Lactam ring," which allows these drugs to bind proteins and, in turn, prevent the formation of a cell wall. Beta-lactam antibiotics attach to and inactivate enzymes in the bacterial cell membrane. This interferes with how bacteria form their cell wall, which stops bacteria from growing and multiplying. Worked okay for the infection
IT seems to be working okay for the deep sinus infection but the metallic taste from the pill itself and the lingering taste if it through the day is not very pleasant. When I called the pharmacy to report it they acted like no one else has had this issue with this drug.

horrible side effects
This drug helped stop my sore throat within a few hours when combined with a steroid. The side effects though were not worth the instant relieve of sore throat, sinus and ear pain. I have been so sick to my stomach even with taking the meds with food. I have an upset stomach and constant nausea all day long. I also have been having bad headaches. It's only day two of seven and I think I will stop using it and just use over the counter meds.

Works as intended
Prescribed to take for 10 days, twice daily. Minor gas and loose bowl movements within the first few days of taking. Towards the end of my prescription I started getting a metal taste. However, within 4 days of taking the medicine my illness subsided.
