Overview Information on Celebrex

Pharmacist Tip
If the doctor tells you to take Celebrex when needed for pain, you may want to take it as soon as you start feeling the pain. The medicine may not work as well if you wait to take it when the pain worsens.
Celebrex® is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to treat pain and inflammation. Celebrex works by blocking an enzyme called COX-2 that causes pain and inflammation. Celebrex is the brand name for celecoxib.

NSAIDs, such as Celebrex, are given to reduce pain, redness, swelling, and heat (inflammation). Treatment with Celebrex is helpful when patients have painful menstrual cramps or other types of joint inflammatory disease, joint damage, or rheumatic disease.
