Common Side Effects of Cialis
Be sure to tell your doctor if you are taking a medicine that contains nitrates. This includes “poppers” or any illegal or street drugs that may contain nitrates. Taking nitrates when you are taking Cialis can cause a very serious drop in your blood pressure that is not safe.

In addition, before prescribing Cialis for you, your doctor needs to know if you have had eye or vision problems, including a rare disease called retinitis pigmentosa. It is important to tell your doctor if you have heart disease, chest pain, or any heart problems. Not everyone should take Cialis, so it is important to tell your doctor about all your medical conditions before you take Cialis. Women should not take Cialis.

Some patients taking Cialis have reported side effects such as headaches, stomach symptoms (such as heartburn, nausea, and diarrhea), back pain, muscle aches, flushing, and stuffy or runny nose. These side effects are the most common.

Contact your doctor right away if you experience any of the following symptoms while taking Cialis:
  • Sudden vision or hearing problems or changes
  • An erection that lasts more than four hours
  • Dizziness or chest pain
  • Hives, a rash, difficulty swallowing or breathing, or swelling of your head, neck, hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs
  • Skin that is peeling or blistering
