Clindamycin is a type of medicine called an antibiotic, which doctors prescribe to treat infections in various parts of the body that are caused by bacteria. This might include skin, blood, or lung infections, among others. Clindamycin works by killing bacteria. Clindamycin is sold under the brand name Cleocin®.
