What is this Medicine?

DEMECLOCYCLINE (dem e kloe SYE kleen) is a tetracycline antibiotic. It is used to treat certain kinds of bacterial infections. It will not work for colds, flu, or other viral infections.

Calcium-containing foods and Demeclocycline Hydrochloride(Demeclocycline Hydrochloride)
Specific food that is high in calcium such as dairy products (cheese, milk, yogurt, or cottage cheese) can decrease the absorption of Demeclocycline (a Tetracycline-Type Antibiotic) from the stomach. Taking dairy product or other high-calcium foods together together with Demeclocycline can decrease the effectiveness of Demeclocycline to treat an infection. To limit this interaction, take Demeclocycline at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals or milk

For example, the drug may be acceptable if needed in a life-threatening situation or serious disease for which safer drugs cannot be used or are ineffective.
