How This Drug Works
Angiotensin Receptor Blockers or ARBs
Angiotensin-Receptor Blockers, or ARBs, help relax blood vessels and adjust body fluid balance.
Angiotensin-Receptor Blockers, or ARBs, help relax blood vessels and adjust body fluid balance. Angiotensin II is a hormone that attaches to receptor sites in the blood vessel wall and causes blood vessels to become more narrow. ARBs attach to the same receptor sites as Angiotensin II. When ARBs bind to the blood vessel wall they block angiotensin II from binding at the receptor site. This keeps the blood vessels open and allows more blood to flow through the vessels.
