METFORMIN; LINAGLIPTIN (met FOR min; lin a GLIP tin) is a combination of 2 medicines used to treat type 2 diabetes. This medicine lowers blood sugar. Treatment is combined with a balanced diet and exercise.

Do not take these drugs together without talking to your prescriber. Ethanol may interfere with the actions of Antidiabetic agents. Alcoholic beverages can increase the risk of low blood sugar, or can cause increased blood sugar due to the calories in these beverages. Discuss your drug regimen with your health care provider. Alternative Antidiabetic Agents may be considered.

Alcohol may interfere with the actions of Antidiabetic agents (Insulin or other drugs used to treat Diabetes). Alcoholic beverages can increase the risk of low blood sugar, or can cause increased blood sugar due to the calories in these beverages. Limit alcohol containing medicines and beverages if you are on Antidiabetic Agents. You should also learn how to recognize the signs of low blood sugar.
