What is this Medicine?

PHOSPHORUS SALTS (FOS fer uhs sawlts) is used to treat high pH levels in the urine. It is used to prevent calcium kidney stones. This medicine can also work with some antibiotics for urinary tract infections.

Elements of your daily lifestyle may have an effect on the medications you are taking. Drug interactions can result in unwanted side effects, reduce the effectiveness of your medicine or possibly increase the action of a particular medicine.

Moderate Lifestyle Interaction
Food and K-PHOS 500mg Tablet(Potassium Phosphate, Monobasic)
Food and Phosphorus(Potassium Phosphate, Monobasic)
Avoid taking Phosphorus Salts at the same time with foods which contain oxalates (rhubarb, spinach, tomatoes, celery, nuts, beans, berries, chocolate) or phytates (bran and whole-grain cereals). These foods can decrease the amount of Phosphorus absorbed from the stomach. To limit this interaction, avoid these foods within 2 hours of taking Phosphorus Salts.

Foods high in potassium and K-PHOS 500mg Tablet(Potassium Phosphate, Monobasic)
Foods high in potassium and Phosphorus(Potassium Phosphate, Monobasic)
If you are taking Phoshorus products which contain potassium such as Neutra-Phos or K-Phos, you should also avoid salt substitutes and low salt milk product, as these products also contain potassium. Too much potassium can lead to muscle problems or an abnormal heartbeat.
