Refrigerate unopened vials, cartridges, and pens of Lantus. Once they are open, you can store them either in the refrigerator or at room temperature. Do not freeze.     
Lantus® is a long-acting form of insulin. Doctors prescribe it to help patients with diabetes control their blood sugar. Lantus may be used to treat either type 1 (insulin-dependent) or type 2 (non-insulin-dependent) diabetes. Lantus is one part of a comprehensive diabetes management plan. Lantus is the brand name for insulin glargine. This is a man-made form of insulin.
