How This Drug Works
Quinolones
Quinolones are antibiotics that treat a variety of bacterial infections by blocking enzymes so bacteria cannot multiply and cause an infection.
Infections occur when large amounts of bacteria sneak past the body's natural defenses and multiply. Quinolones are antibiotics that treat a variety of bacterial infections.

When an infection occurs within the body, bacteria multiply quickly and release chemicals that build up and lead to illness and, in severe cases, death .All of the genetic material that drives the bacteria to multiply is contained in the bacteria's nucleus.

Quinolones easily enter bacteria cells through small holes allowing them to access the nucleus. Two specific enzymes are needed by bacteria to copy its DNA and create more bacteria. Quinolones block both types of enzymes so the bacteria's DNA cannot be copied. If bacteria cannot be copied, they cannot multiply and cause an infection.

Side effects still lingering
This drug worked great at clearing up an ear infection that had been plaguing me. However, I developed Achilles Tendonitis in both feet. This is still bothering me a year later. My pharmacist has labeled this drug as harmful to me as it will take a lot for me to use this again,

worked as intended but bad side effects
I will not take this again. I had a severe side effect of tendonitis up and down my arms. After 50 days of taking this drug, I am still feeling pain in my arms when I get dressed, reach, sleep on my side, etc. I hope someday it will subside.

Good
Your information regarding this drug is excellent. I used it to verify what I was telling a patient about foods to avoid while in levaquin. I also showed the patient how to access this site. Thank you!

Cough cleared after use with this and prednisone
My tendons ached and still ache. Tendons in my back was the location of my most severe pain. Chiropractor stated it was not joint or muscle, so there was very little he could do for me.

Severe stomach pain!
Worked great on pneumonia and cough which really improved at 48 hrs exactly. Loss of appetite and then day three the stomach pain was gut wrenching followed by severe diarrhea and nausea and vomiting. No marking from cvs to take without food but not that I'm eating anyway. The stomach pain is just horrendous.

Achilles Tendonitis
9 days after taking a 10 day course of treatment 500mg developed sudden onset of Achilles tendonitis. This is a well documented side effect and the condition can be permanent leading to ruptured tendon. There were no warning issued by the doctor, no were there any special instructions attached to the prescription. In early 2015 a Black Box warning was issued for this medication explicitly naming Achilles tendonitis as a side effect

Horrible!!!
This drug may be effective, however it made me feel worse after taking it to the point I skipped the last day. Extreme headache, dizziness and nausea. I have made a note on my doctor's and pharmacist's charts to NEVER prescribe this for me again!!!

Side effects
It caused nausea with vomiting, headache, and my skin felt like it was sunburned. It felt like I had a high fever because my skin felt so hot on the inside (normal temperature). I did not notice any improvement in my pneumonia after four days.
