Overview Information on Lexapro
Pharmacist Tip
Store Lexapro in a closed container. Keep it away from heat, moisture, and direct light. And keep it out of reach of children.
Lexapro® is the brand name of a medicine called escitalopram hydrobromide. Doctors prescribe Lexapro to treat certain depression and anxiety disorders.

Lexapro is in a group of medicines called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). It is thought that these medicines help to lessen your symptoms by affecting your body's levels of serotonin, a chemical in your brain.

Doctors prescribe Lexapro as either a Lexapro tablet or a Lexapro oral solution. Your doctor will likely tell you to take Lexapro at the same time, once a day, either in the morning or at night.
