How This Drug Works
ARBs and Diuretic Combinations
Combination medications may work in more than one way. Angiotensin-Receptor Blockers, or ARBs, help relax blood vessels and adjust body fluid balance. Only the ARB trait of this drug is explained by the video.
Angiotensin-Receptor Blockers, or ARBs, help relax blood vessels and adjust body fluid balance. Angiotensin II is a hormone that attaches to receptor sites in the blood vessel wall and causes blood vessels to become more narrow. ARBs attach to the same receptor sites as Angiotensin II. When ARBs bind to the blood vessel wall they block angiotensin II from binding at the receptor site. This keeps the blood vessels open and allows more blood to flow through the vessels.
