What is this Medicine?

HYDROCODONE; PHENYLEPHRINE (hye droe KOE done; fen il EF rin) is a cough suppressant with a decongestant. It is used to treat the cough and congestion of colds and other respiratory infections. This medicine will not treat an infection.

Alcohol and Nalex DH 2.5mg-5mg/5ml Solution(Hydrocodone Bitartrate)
Alcohol and CNS Depressants(Hydrocodone Bitartrate)
Avoid alcohol-containing drinks while taking this medicine. Using this drug along with alcohol can lead to serious side effects. You may feel drowsy or more tired when taking these drugs together. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how this drug affects you, and especially if you are drinking alcohol-containing beverages. If you notice slurred speech, confusion, severe weakness, or difficulty breathing, contact your health care provider immediately.

Grapefruit juice and Nalex DH 2.5mg-5mg/5ml Solution(Hydrocodone Bitartrate)
Grapefruit juice and Hydrocodone(Hydrocodone Bitartrate)
Side effects from Hydrocodone may get worse if you eat or drink grapefruit juice. Talk to your doctor first. Contact your doctor right away if you have slurred speech, confusion, weakness, or trouble breathing. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how this affects you.
Moderate Lifestyle Interaction
Caffeine-containing Foods/Beverages and Nalex DH 2.5mg-5mg/5ml Solution(Phenylephrine Hydrochloride)
Caffeine-containing Foods/Beverages and Phenylephrine(Phenylephrine Hydrochloride)
Limit caffeine intake (examples: coffee, teas, colas, chocolate and some herbal supplements) while taking Phenylephrine. Also avoid medicines containing additional Caffeine whenever possible. Side effects from Phenylephrine may get worse if you take excessive Caffeine. Taking a high amount of Caffeine can increase the risk of nausea, nervousness, palpitations, problems with sleep, rapid heartbeat, tremor, or other side effects.
Pregnancy & Lactation Information
FIRST Trimester

Class C - Animal studies have shown an adverse effect and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. OR No animal studies have been conducted and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women.

SECOND Trimester

Class C - Animal studies have shown an adverse effect and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. OR No animal studies have been conducted and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women.

THIRD Trimester
