What is this Medicine?

RANITIDINE (ra NYE te deen) is a type of antihistamine that blocks the release of stomach acid. It is used to treat stomach or intestinal ulcers. It can relieve ulcer pain and discomfort, and the heartburn from acid reflux.

Alcohol and H2-blockers(Ranitidine Hydrochloride)
Side effects from drinking alcohol-containing drinks may get worse if you take H2-blockers such as cimetidine, famotidine, nizatidine, and ranitidine. Avoid or minimize your intake of alcohol-containing drinks while taking H2-blockers.
Pregnancy & Lactation Information
FIRST Trimester

Class B - Animal studies have revealed no evidence of harm to the fetus, however, there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. OR Animal studies have shown an adverse effect, but adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus in any trimester.

SECOND Trimester

Class B - Animal studies have revealed no evidence of harm to the fetus, however, there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women.
