How This Drug Works
Statins and Other Combinations
Combination medications work in more than one way. Statins are a group of drugs that lower cholesterol levels. Statins work by blocking the enzyme that makes LDL cholesterol. Only the statin trait of this drug is explained by the video.
Statins are a group of drugs that lower cholesterol levels. <br><br>Both &#34;good&#34; and &#34;bad&#34; cholesterol are produced in your liver. <br><br>Bad cholesterol, also called LDL, is made by combining fats with proteins. <br><br>An enzyme called HMG&#45;CoA reductase makes this happen. <br><br>Although cholesterol is required for normal body functions, too much LDL causes arteries to narrow by forming plaque Statins work by blocking the enzyme that makes LDL cholesterol.  By reducing bad cholesterol there&#39;s a lower risk for plaque buildup. This leads to fewer heart attacks, strokes, and other health problems.
