What is this Medicine?

DESMOPRESSIN (des moe PRESS in) is a man made hormone. It helps to control urination and thirst. This medicine is used to treat central diabetes insipidus. It is used in patients after a head injury or some surgeries. This medicine is also used to treat or prevent bleeding in patients with Hemophilia A and von Willebrand's Disease.

Alcohol and Desmopressin Acetate(Desmopressin Acetate)
Avoid alcohol-containing drinks while taking Desmopressin. Alcohol may work against the beneficial actions of Desmopressin (Desmopressin usually works to decrease urination).

FIRST Trimester

Class B - Animal studies have revealed no evidence of harm to the fetus, however, there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. OR Animal studies have shown an adverse effect, but adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus in any trimester.
