How This Drug Works
Beta Lactam Antibiotics
Beta-lactam antibiotics include Penicillins, Cephalosporins, and Carbapenams and treat a variety of bacterial infections. They prevent the growth of bacteria by damaging the cell wall, bacteria's strongest protection from the environment.
"Beta-lactam antibiotics treat a variety of bacterial infections. They prevent the growth of bacteria by damaging the cell wall, bacteria's strongest protection from the environment.

Bacteria are everywhere. Some can be "good" bacteria but infections can occur when large amounts of any type of bacteria sneak past the body's natural defenses and multiply. Bacteria multiply by growing and splitting in half. One of the last steps in this process is sealing off the opening in the cell wall.

Beta&#45Lactam antibiotics have a commonly shaped structural piece, called the "Beta-Lactam ring," which allows these drugs to bind proteins and, in turn, prevent the formation of a cell wall. Beta-lactam antibiotics attach to and inactivate enzymes in the bacterial cell membrane. This interferes with how bacteria form their cell wall, which stops bacteria from growing and multiplying. Gave me a terrible rash
4 days after I stopped taking this I developed a severe, itchy rash over my chest, neck, back, arms and legs. It's been going 5 days so far and hasn't abated. Base on research I've done it can take 3 to 14 days to clear.

Feel blah after taking
I know it works because I have taken it before but it makes me sick when taking it. Every time I forget how sick it makes me. I feel great with the pill I take at night because I sleep through it but the morning one makes me feel nauseous and I think it's the nausea that makes my whole body feel tired. I even break out into a sweat when trying to do something. Have a little bit of dizziness with it. It's only the morning pill though that gets me because I can't sleep through side effects. It tolerable though just annoying how it makes you feel less energetic to do anything.

So so
I'm taking 1 pill every 12 hrs. I'm on day 6 and just now starting to feel somewhat better. AFTER Only 2 days I've had severe diarrhea and a pretty bad yeast infection. Over all? I'd take it again if I had to but would ask for a second Option.

developed infection
Prescribed by hosp. for a dog bite (was up to date on all shots). 4 Four days in arm & hand swelled double it's size & got the "red line" infection (which is infection that went into blood stream & headed toward heart, extremely serious). Returned to hosp & immediately put on IV antibiotic, that worked. Still had to finish 10 day oral Amox. upset stomach/headache. Don't know if red line infection would have happened even with different med. so I don't know if any blame is to be placed on Amox. tho I was surprised (it was a deep bite).

Terrible
I took this for a sinus infection and after three days I was sick to my stomach. I stopped taking it immediately, it had started started to clear the sinus infection but was not worth being in bed for 2 days sick to my stomach and not eating.

Worked somewhat
This medicine gave me diarrhea every day I took it, it's been a week since I finished it and I still have diarrhea. The doctor told me to eat yogurt and take probiotics, it's only been a couple days so I don't know yet if that's going to work. I have had to take Pepto Bismo since I started the antibiotic to help with the diarrhea. I hope I never have to take this medicine again.

Worked, gave me a mild rash.
This was the second antibiotic I took in a row to get rid of a sinus infection. Azithromycin was the first, and it did not quite do the job. I was sick a week later, though my doctor did not seem to believe that. I had to convince her to give me a second antibiotic. This Amox did the job, even though I stopped taking it a day and a half early because I started getting a rash on the inside of my palm. The rash came 5 or 6 days in, went away, then came back with the next pill dose. I was afraid it would turn into a more serious allergic reaction, and the doctor on call agreed that I should stop taking it. He also recommended Claritin for the allergic reaction. By the way, the programmer should fix this field to allow semicolons.

Works as intended but strong bad side effects
It did not make me feel better at all during the time I was taking the pill, it made me really tired, dizzy, have bad headaches and pressure in my eyes, made my stomach queasy and uncomfortable...but most important it cleared away my wanted infection.
