What is this Medicine?

TRIENTINE binds to copper and other metals in the body. It is used to treat Wilson's disease. This medicine will lower the amount of copper in the body but does not cure the disease.

Elements of your daily lifestyle may have an effect on the medications you are taking. Drug interactions can result in unwanted side effects, reduce the effectiveness of your medicine or possibly increase the action of a particular medicine.

Major Lifestyle Interaction
Food and Syprine 250mg Capsule(Trientine Hydrochloride)
Food and Trientine Hydrochloride(Trientine Hydrochloride)
Do not take Trientine with either food or milk. Take trientine either 1 hour before eating or 2 hours after eating. Do not drink milk either 1 hour before or 1 hour after taking Trientine. Swallow Trientine with water. If you eat food or drink milk soon after taking Trientine, the drug may not work well to lower the amount of copper in your body.

SECOND Trimester

Class C - Animal studies have shown an adverse effect and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. OR No animal studies have been conducted and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women.

THIRD Trimester

Class C - Animal studies have shown an adverse effect and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. OR No animal studies have been conducted and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women.

Lactation

Caution - Not enough information is available to rule out harm to infants when this drug is taken by nursing mothers.
