What is this Medicine?

AZITHROMYCIN (az ith roe MYE sin) is a macrolide antibiotic. It is used to treat or prevent certain kinds of bacterial infections. It will not work for colds, flu, or other viral infections.

Grapefruit juice and Azithromycin Dihydrate(Azithromycin)
Although an interaction is possible, Grapefruit Juice and Azithromycin may be used together with monitoring by your prescriber. Discuss your drug regimen and any new or worsening side effects with your health care provider.

Food and Zithromax Tri-Pak 500mg Tablet(Azithromycin)
Food and Azithromycin Dihydrate(Azithromycin)
Azithromycin tablets can be taken with or without food. Azithromycin suspension (liquid) is best taken on an empty stomach.
Pregnancy & Lactation Information
FIRST Trimester

Class B - Animal studies have revealed no evidence of harm to the fetus, however, there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. OR Animal studies have shown an adverse effect, but adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus in any trimester.

SECOND Trimester

Class B - Animal studies have revealed no evidence of harm to the fetus, however, there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women.
