  Benefits of Joining


Q. I already earn ExtraBucks® Rewards for prescriptions. Why do I need to join to get the rewards?
A. The "fill 2 prescriptions, earn $1 ExtraBucks Rewards" benefit is being replaced with new, bigger rewards.

Q. Why do I need to sign an authorization form?
A. The purpose of the form is to authorize CVS/pharmacy to record prescription earnings for each person who joins Pharmacy ExtraBucks Rewards.


Q. Can I sign the authorization form for everyone who shares my ExtraCare card?
A. Adults 18 years and older must sign individually; parents and guardians can sign for children under 18 years of age.


Q. Will my health information be shared when I join and am in the program?
A. When you first join, your health information will link to your ExtraCare account; your contact information (including your full name, address, phone numbers, if you provide it) will be used to update your ExtraCare account. Also, your contact information will be used to communicate new programs and offers related to Pharmacy ExtraBucks Rewards. Note: You'll be notified of what health information will be part of any new programs and your health information will not be used until you have joined that particular program.

In addition, each person enrolled sharing the same ExtraCare account will be identified separately for the accumulation of ExtraBucks Rewards. To calculate rewards, ExtraCare will receive the quantity of prescriptions purchased or immunizations administered for each enrolled customer on that ExtraCare card.


Q. Why do I need my prescription number and a store number to join Pharmacy ExtraBucks Rewards online?
A. CVS/pharmacy will use the prescription number, store number, date of birth and ExtraCare card number to ensure we can properly authenticate the online user with the ExtraCare account so that earnings and rewards are recorded for the correct person.

Q. Do I need to get a new ExtraCare card to join?
A. No, you'll continue to use your existing ExtraCare card.


Q. Do all of the members of my family who currently share the same ExtraCare card need to get their own cards?
A. No, the same card can continue to be shared but each person will need to join to earn Pharmacy ExtraBucks Rewards.


Q. What if I don't have my ExtraCare card any longer? Can I use my phone number to join?
A. No. In order to protect your privacy, an ExtraCare card is required to join. Your ExtraCare number is a unique number tied to your ExtraCare account; phone numbers are not unique across all cards.

If you no longer have your ExtraCare card, you can call 1-800-SHOP CVS to request a new or replacement card. Be sure to request that your balance from your old card is transferred to your new card.


Q. Will members of my household sharing the same ExtraCare card be able to see what medications I'm taking?
A. No. The only information that will be visible among household members sharing the same ExtraCare card is the number of members who have joined and how many total rewards have been earned (not by whom).

Q. Will I still get my ExtraBucks Rewards if someone else picks up my prescription?
A. Yes, your earnings will be applied to the ExtraCare card account that was used when you joined the Pharmacy ExtraBucks Rewards program.


Q. Does each person sharing the same ExtraCare card have to fill 5 prescriptions before the $5 ExtraBucks Rewards will print?
A. No, earnings on an ExtraCare card will print once 5 combined / total prescriptions have been purchased.


Q. How will I get my Pharmacy ExtraBucks Rewards?
A. $5 Pharmacy ExtraBucks Rewards will be issued approximately 46 days after every 5 prescriptions have been purchased. Rewards will print on store receipts and at the ExtraCare Coupon Center. They'll also be available on; you'll just need to create an online account if you don't currently have one.


Q. Is the "up to $50" per person for all ExtraBucks Rewards or just those that I earn for prescriptions?
A. The $50 limit is only for ExtraBucks Rewards earned for prescriptions. There's no limit to the amount of ExtraBucks Rewards that can be earned for non-prescription purchases.

Q. I know longer wish to participate in the Pharmacy ExtraBucks Rewards Program. How can I remove my prescription information from this program?

*Rewards earned under the Pharmacy ExtraBucks Rewards program are limited to $50 Pharmacy ExtraBucks Rewards annually per person. Pharmacy ExtraBucks Rewards are separate from the unlimited ExtraBucks Rewards that can be earned for all non-prescription purchases. Enrollment in the Pharmacy ExtraBucks Rewards Program requires an ExtraCare card account; only members of the same household may share an ExtraCare card account. For prescriptions, $5 Pharmacy ExtraBucks Rewards will pay out after every fifth prescription is purchased for persons enrolled in the program, up to the annual aggregate $50 Pharmacy ExtraBucks Rewards limit per enrolled person associated with an ExtraCare card account. Not valid on prescriptions purchased in NJ or NY. Not valid on any prescriptions for controlled substance in Louisiana and Hawaii. CVS/pharmacy may, at any time and for any reason, exclude prescriptions dispensed in other states, other types of prescriptions, or prescriptions reimbursed by third party payers. Pharmacy ExtraBucks Rewards have the same restrictions as non-prescription ExtraBucks Rewards.
