Prescription Verification

Why we verify some prescriptions

Before we fill some prescriptions, we are required to contact your health care provider for verification. This is especially true for any Schedule II Medication.

When a new prescription request is submitted online and the pharmacy doesn't have a written prescription, we'll need to call your health care provider for verification as well.

We contact your health care provider for verification

If the CVS pharmacist who fills your prescription has any questions or needs to verify your prescription, he or she will use the information you provide to contact your health care provider. Depending on the verification time and the shipping method you select, you can expect to receive your medication in 3–10 business days.
