For optimum performance, change your filter as directed. (Filter replacement is essential for product to perform as represented. Replace filter every 40 gallons (about 2 months for the average family). Water Coolers require 2 filters; replace both filters every 80 gallons (about 4 months for the average family). See User's Guide for details. Getting Started (See User's Guide for detailed instructions): Pitchers/Dispensers - 1. Soak new filter. 2. Insert filter into reservoir. 3. Add cold tap water. It is normal for carbon dust to appear in your first 2 pitchers. Discard this water or use it to water plants.
