What is this Medicine?

CARBAMAZEPINE (kar ba MAZ e peen) is used to treat mixed and manic episodes of bipolar disorder, to control seizures caused by certain types of epilepsy, and to treat nerve related pain. It is not for common aches and pains.

Enteral Feedings and Equetro 100mg Extended-Release Capsule(Carbamazepine)
Enteral Feedings and Carbamazepine(Carbamazepine)
Enteral feedings may decrease the actions of Carbamazepine oral suspension. To avoid an interaction with liquid nutrition products, take Carbamazepine oral suspension at least 15 minutes before or 15 minutes after you take tube feedings or nutritional supplement beverages (examples: Ensure, Jevity, and others). Enteral feedings do not appear to interact with Carbamazepine tablets or capsules.

Grapefruit juice and Equetro 100mg Extended-Release Capsule(Carbamazepine)
Grapefruit juice and Carbamazepine (Systemic)(Carbamazepine)
Grapefruit juice and grapefruit-containing foods may increase the effects of Carbamazepine. Do not significantly alter your intake of grapefruit juice while taking this drug.

Alcohol and Carbamazepine (Systemic)(Carbamazepine)
Do not drink alcoholic beverages without talking to your healthcare provider while taking Carbamazepine. Decreased alertness, drowsiness, falls, or other side effects may occur. Do not drive or operate machinery if you are drinking alcohol-containing beverages. If you notice slurred speech, confusion, severe weakness, or difficulty breathing, contact your health care provider immediately.

Marijuana and Equetro 100mg Extended-Release Capsule(Carbamazepine)
Marijuana and Carbamazepine (Systemic)(Carbamazepine)
Carbamazepine can theoretically increase the elimination of Marijuana, Medical from the body. The side effect profile of Marijuana, Medical may be altered if you take Carbamazepine. You may feel drowsy or more tired. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how these drugs affect you. Contact your health care provider immediately if you notice slurred speech, confusion, increases heart rate, or palpitations while taking Marijuana, Medical.
Pregnancy & Lactation Information
First Trimester

Class D - Adequate well-controlled or observational studies in pregnant women have demonstrated a risk to the fetus. However, the benefits of therapy may outweigh the potential risk. For example, the drug may be acceptable if needed in a life-threatening situation or serious disease for which safer drugs cannot be used or are ineffective.
