Urgent Care and our clinics have many similarities – they both offer similar services and act as a more convenient alternative to emergency rooms. Though they offer similar services, you can save 40% at MinuteClinic when compared to urgent care in Upper Marlboro. At MinuteClinic®, you can check the wait times at various clinics online prior to coming in to avoid the long lines that are common at urgent Care. The largest distinction, besides the cost and wait time, is that an urgent care has equipment to perform on-site lab tests and x-rays. If needed, your Upper Marlboro MinuteClinic health professional can refer you elsewhere for an x-ray.
Urgent Cares and our clinics are ideal for when you become sick or injured when your regular doctor is not available for a last-minute appointment. If you have a condition that you would normally see your doctor for, going to a CVS MinuteClinic over an emergency room is appropriate. While we treat sicknesses and injuries, our nurse practitioners and physician assistants are also able to administer a variety of vaccines if needed for work, school or personal reasons such as travel. You should go to an emergency room if you have more complex or critical needs that may require advanced treatments, including cases where surgery may be necessary. An example of some symptoms best evaluated at a hospital emergency room include chest pain, broken bones, or head injuries. Our Upper Marlboro walk-in and book clinic is ideal for treating minor illnesses , like ear aches and ear infections, however, in the event of a severe injury, please call 911 immediately.
MinuteClinic® prices in Upper Marlboro range anywhere from $35 to $250 depending on the service. Please visit our service price list and insurance information page to see detailed pricing and insurance breakdowns. At CVS MinuteClinic®, most insurance plans are accepted. We recommend contacting your insurance company prior to your visit to be sure that the service you are seeking will be covered. How much you will have to pay out of pocket will depend on your insurance coverage. If you do not have insurance or prefer to pay out of pocket, you may pay with cash, card, or check. Prices may vary depending on the complexity of the case. Lab tests and additional services may result in additional charges.
Can’t make it in for a visit? We also have Video Visits, which enable you to see one of our health care professionals from the comfort of your own home as an alternative for just $59 per visit. Currently, a Video Visit is not covered by insurance and is not required to get treatment.
MinuteClinic’s nurse practitioners and physician assistants are qualified to perform sports physicals for teens and kids. When your little one wants to join a sports team, they will likely need to take a PPE (pre-participation physical examination). This is normally required in part of registering youths for participation in a sport. A PPE will help to assure that your child is healthy and physically capable of participating in their chosen activity. Some of these activities may include football, martial arts, soccer, baseball, or track. Before registering, make sure that you know what the school’s or sport organizer’s eligibility requirements are. The purpose of the PPE is to help minimize the risk of your child getting injured while playing so visit MinuteClinic today and check your child’s PPE off your to-do list!
During your child’s visit for a sports physical, you can expect a few things to happen. Our staff will first review the athlete and the family’s medical history as well as review any prescriptions or dietary supplements. The physician assistant will then do a general physical exam to check the ears, nose, throat, heart, lungs, and abdomen as well as take a height and weight measurement. Then, they will do a vision check. Your child will get their blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and heart rate checked. Once that is done, they will have their flexibility, joints, posture, and strength assessed. To finish off the physical, a urine test will be taken to screen for indicators of any underlying medical conditions such as diabetes. Prior to your visit, make sure that you have the necessary forms to bring with you. You will need to know relevant health and medical history, including any allergies, current medications, existing medical conditions, immunization records, and the athlete’s primary care provider's name and contact info.
We understand that it is hard to find time to schedule a doctor’s appointment for your kids when they’re so busy. This is why we offer sports physicals available at your convenience, just schedule online or walk in and make an appointment. We eliminate the need of having to move around your schedule to squeeze in an appointment. As a reminder, a sports physical exam is not intended to replace a comprehensive annual wellness exam and other screenings. Not only do we aim to be the most convenient health care option, we also aim to be the most affordable – which is why at CVS’s MinuteClinic, you will save an average of 40% or more when compared to urgent care. Stop by CVS MinuteClinic on the way home from picking up your kids and get their sports physical done and out of the way!
