If I could give this zero stars I would
If I could have give this a zero star rating I would have!!! I have used Clairol nice and easy which use to be 118 medium brown and now known as 5 medium brown perminant colour dye for over 35 years without any issues at all. The last few times that they have changed the formular noticed my colour changing a bit each time i used it, but to be honest just thought it was because I must have a build up on the rest of my hair as have used it for many years and was not to bad and was better than having grey roots. But this time oh my god!!!!! I noticed a major change as I started to mix it up, the colour changed straight away as I mixed it, normally took a bit for the colour to change in the mixing bottle and was not as thick as normal, but carried on as normal and applied it as i have done for many years. When finished washing it all off, used the conditioner as normal and again this did not smell the same and was very thin, it normally takes a bit of time to wash out as I have very thick hair, but washed out straight away in seconds which again was not right. when i brushed my hair and looked in the mirror, it had not taken as normal it just looked like a dirty tea stain on my roots!!!! my hair once dried looks like a joke not even looking brown at all and looks far worse than having grey roots!! my hair is various different colours of what should have been medium brown where the formula keeps changing and is so dry feels like straw. I have spent so much time crying when I look at my hair and am so embarrassed for people to see me like this. I have had to work overtime at work just so I can afford to go to my hairdresser and get this rectified which will be done in next few days just so i can finally be happy with my hair and go out again as have been hiding away and be the colour it should have been. I am hoping that writing this review it will stop someone else having to experience what I have gone through.Reply from Clairol2 weeks agoThank you for reaching out to Clairol and giving us this opportunity to respond. So dissatisfied...please change it back
I bought my usual dark blonde #7 last month and its not the same, it turns a dark purple immediately when mixed. I have been using Nice n Easy for years its always a light carmel color...this is not the same and neither is the color when put on my hair. Please change it back!Reply from Clairol2 weeks agoHi there! Thank you for your loyalty to our Clairol Nice'n Easy. We are sorry to learn of your disappointing experience. Regarding the mixture appearing darker (black/purple) after combining the components: certain oxidative dyes naturally darken immediately upon mixing due to the oxidation process. This can sometimes appear deeper in tone before application and does not indicate a safety or integrity issue with the product. This change is due to a small update in our manufacturing process, which may cause a subtle change in the appearance of the hair color mixed product to look different, but rest assured, the color results are still the same. Please know that this is not a formula change, as the ingredients are all the same.Regards,Clairol{{userCount} users found this review helpful.Originally posted on Clairol - Sandy4funReviewed 3 weeks ago
Not the same
Have been using this product for years with good results. Last box not so good, color totally different when mixed, was scared to put on my hair.... hair was orange tint after completed-ugh! I have read the formula was not changed but after reading the reviews something has definately has changed and when you say it hasn't I can't have confidence in this product anymore. Sad.Reply from Clairol3 weeks agoHello! We appreciate your loyalty through out the years to our Clairol Nice 'n Easy line. We are saddened to hear that you did not achieve the results as expected. Since various factors influence the outcome, we believe it is best to speak with you directly to provide the most appropriate recommendation. Regarding the mixture appearing darker (black/purple) after combining the components: certain oxidative dyes naturally and immediately darken upon mixing due to the oxidation process. Sometimes, this can make the shade appear more intense prior to application. This change is due to a minor update in our manufacturing process, which can slightly alter the visual appearance of the color mixture. We assure you that this is not a change in the formula, as the ingredients remain the same. Need a Better Brown
I almost like it. I used to use Nice n Easy medium brown, but found it faded to being too gold. Now I'm using cool medium brown and find it too red. I wish you had a medium brown that was just brown and not too red or too gold.{{userCount} users found this review helpful.Originally posted on Clairol - RonikenReviewed 3 weeks ago
Surprise formula change!
I’ve used Nice n Easy 5N for many years. As previous very recent reviewers have noted the “small update in manufacturing process” has definitely altered this product. The first time I unknowingly used an updated lot number I was shocked by how grossly dark the formula became. I actually thought maybe the wrong color was in the box so I opened (wasted) another box with the same result. It made my hair darker than normal without the highlights I liked. This time I used an older box with a lot number from 2025 and it was fine. Please listen to your customers!{{userCount} users found this review helpful.Originally posted on Clairol - GreenHairReviewed 4 weeks ago
You ruined a great product.
I've used this dye for over 15 yrs. and for the first time ever my hair turned green. I now have 5 boxes of this crappy reformulation. Do you think your customers are idiots???Reply from Clairol4 weeks agoHi there! We would first like to thank you for your loyalty to our Nice 'n Easy line over the years. However, we are truly saddened to learn of your disappointment with the product and unintended green results. This is not the experience we want you to have and these results can be factors on a few different variables. Due to this, we invite you to speak with us directly at 1-800-252-4765 so we can better assist you.Regards,Clairol{{userCount} users found this review helpful.Originally posted on Clairol - SunginaReviewed 4 weeks ago
Best at home color for my texture hair
I have been using nice and easy for over 20 years now. My natural color is dirty blonde and I have a thick amount of fine strands of hair so I have a lot of hair it is just fine textured hair, that tends to be on the curly/frizzy side if I do not blow dry it. The levels of blonde that I have used range from the 7-10 range and all looked well on me. Currently I am wearing the darker blonde (7) because more of my hair is turning white (about 35-40 percent) and the darker color holds better on my lighter hair and gives better dimensional colors for me. I do tend to color my hair every 4-5 weeks because my hair grows quickly. At week 4, the white hair that is prominent at my forehead and temples will become very noticeable. The overall color starts lightening at about the 4 week mark for me. Nice and Easy works well with my hair type. Clairol always leaves my hair healthy with minimal fallout directly after coloring and no stinging to my scalp. I do protect my hair with a heat protectant and that keeps it from incurring damage between colorings. When I have made excursions to try other brands, my hair always pays the price. So Nice and Easy will always remain my go by for at home coloring.{{userCount} users found this review helpful.Originally posted on Clairol - VivRReviewed 1 month ago
Brown hair color turned black after mixing
I have used Nice N Easy 5N for years. Most recently, the product continued to darken after mixing until it turned black. I removed it from my hair before processing time was finished and it turned out ok, but my grey hairs have a greenish tinge. Do you have a recall on this product? I tried to add images of the black color and lot/batch number, but this form would not allow. I tried to call your 800 number to discuss, but was sent into a survey.Reply from Clairol1 month agoHi there. Thank you for your loyalty to our Nice'n Easy.
