What Is Flonase?

Flonase 24hr Allergy Relief Nasal Spray is an allergy relief nasal spray that helps relieve nasal and eye allergy symptoms for up to 24 hours.

What Does Flonase Do?

Flonase 24hr Allergy Relief Nasal Spray relieves allergy symptoms like runny nose, sneezing, itchy and watery eyes, and itchy nose. And unlike many allergy pills that only target the histamine response, Flonase 24hr Allergy Relief Nasal Spray also relieves nasal congestion.

How Does Flonase Work?

Flonase 24hr Allergy Relief Nasal Spray contains fluticasone propionate as the active ingredient to help relieve nasal and eye allergy symptoms. Flonase acts on multiple inflammatory substances, such as histamines, prostaglandins, cytokines, tryptases, chemokines, and leukotrienes in order to keep your allergy symptoms at bay. The exact number of substances Flonase works on and the precise mechanism by which it works is not known.

How to Use Flonase

Flonase 24hr Allergy Relief Nasal Spray is easy to use. To start, gently shake the bottle. Next, remove the green cap. If you haven’t used Flonase in a week or more, or if you have just opened a new bottle, you will need to prime the nozzle. To prime the nozzle, aim the bottle away from your face and gently pump the white mechanism until a fine mist appears. Next, gently blow your nose to clear out your nostrils. Close one nostril by placing your finger over it, and grasp the Flonase bottle in the other hand. Gently insert just the tip of the spray nozzle into your open nostril, aiming slightly to the side, away from the center of your nose. Be careful not to insert it too far! Use your left hand to spray into your right nostril and your right hand to spray into your left nostril. Press down on the spray nozzle and sniff gently at the same time. Then, breathe out through your mouth. Then do the same in the other nostril. Depending on your dosing instructions, you may need to repeat this process. When you are finished, wipe the spray nozzle clean with a tissue and replace the green cap on your Flonase bottle.

How Long Does It Take Flonase to Work?

Most people achieve allergy symptom relief within 12 hours of starting to use Flonase. However, it is important to remember that in order to achieve full effectiveness (meaning once a day allergy symptoms relief), you will need to use Flonase every day for at least three or four days straight. Flonase recommends using the product every day during allergy season for best results. It is also a good idea to talk to your doctor to make sure that Flonase 24hr Allergy Relief Nasal Spray is right for you.

How Often Can You Use Flonase?

Flonase products, including Flonase 24hr Allergy Relief Nasal Spray, are designed to be used once a day, every day, during allergy season in order to get the full effect.

Is Flonase Addictive?

No, when used as directed, Flonase products, including Flonase 24hr Allergy Relief Nasal Spray, are not habit-forming.

What Is the Difference Between Flonase and Flonase Sensimist?

Original Flonase products, including as Flonase 24hr Allergy Relief Nasal Spray, and the newer Flonase Sensimist Allergy Relief Spray both work on six inflammatory allergic substances to provide you with 24-hour relief from allergy symptoms, including sneezing, itchy and runny nose, watery and itchy eyes, and nasal congestion. However, only Flonase Sensimist uses patented technology to deliver a fine, gentle mist that is virtually no-drip, scent-free, alcohol-free, and features an ergonomically designed bottle with a short nozzle.
