The new formula is awful -- doesn't work and has a new scent which gave me heachaces. I have been using this serum for 20 years, it worked great and was the only thing that help my frizz. This one is a life saver!

Knowing I would have to be in formal photos, I decided to try my hand at the new John Frieda Frizz Ease extra strength controller for a the following week and I applied a small amount of product on my hair every night after I showered. It showed immediate results and I was surprised how much it worked for my hair in improving the texture and the shine was amazing too! Straightening Savior, Tough on Curls
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As someone with thick, 3B/3C curly hair, my routine changes depending on whether I’m embracing my natural curl pattern or going for a sleek, straight look. This serum works completely differently for me depending on the day. The Bad (When my curls are curling): On natural curl days, this formula is tricky. Because it's packed with silicones, it provides zero hydration on its own. If applied to damp hair, it can make my tight curls feel stiff, plastic-y, and weighed down, stripping away their natural bounce. It also requires a heavy clarifying shampoo later to avoid buildup. The Good (When I straighten): On the flip side, when I blow-dry and flat-iron, this serum is an absolute holy grail! It gives my coarse texture the perfect weight to stretch out smoothly and slashes my drying time.
