No, there isn't an additional fee for using CVS Specialty. It is free of charge to all the patients with CVS Specialty medications at CVS Pharmacy to provide you the most comprehensive care

CVS Specialty complies with all privacy laws and regulations, therefore protecting your personal health information. HIPAA authorizations are required for any other person who is approved to speak on your behalf
Yes, your local pharmacist is always available to answer any questions you may have. He or she will be able to tell you about the process for filling your CVS Specialty medication going forward. In addition, the Specialty Care Team is positioned to provide you with clinical expertise on your medication and condition
If you were filling a prescription at your local pharmacy, the first fill after your store transitioned to CVS Pharmacy would occur at your local pharmacy location. After that, your remaining refills will be managed by CVS Specialty.
If you are bringing a new prescription to your local pharmacy now that it has transitioned to CVS Pharmacy, CVS Specialty will manage your first fill and all the refills on that prescription
Once the CVS Specialty Care Team receives your prescription, they contact you over the phone. As part of the process, they will ask you how you would like to receive your medication. You can choose from the following options based on your convenience:
• Electing to have the medication shipped to your local CVS Pharmacy so you can pick it up there*
• Electing to have the medication shipped directly to your home, doctor's office or location of convenience via mail
You will work with the CVS Specialty Care Team for each refill, when they call you and decide where/when you'd like your medication. You could also call the phone number on your prescription/pill bottle, go online at CVSSpecialty.com or call customer service toll free: 1-800-237-2767.
*Delivery to store is excluded in AR, OK and WV
The CVS Specialty Care Team will discuss the date of the delivery with you. We offer several shipping options to ensure that you receive your medication on time.
Our Specialty Care Team will ensure that you have your medication when you need it. Some CVS Specialty medications require prior authorization due to cost and disease specifications which may need further review and conversations with your insurance company and/or prescriber. Our Specialty Care Team can initiate these conversations on your behalf to expedite the order
When your prescription is first sent to CVS Specialty, you will get a phone call within 48 hours from the Specialty Care Team who will discuss, in depth, the next steps with you
As part of the conversion from your local pharmacy to CVS Specialty, you should not need to obtain prior authorization from the doctor again
