Flonase Allergy Medicine

Relieve seasonal allergies and nasal congestion with CVS Pharmacy's range of Flonase allergy medicines. Flonase nasal sprays target allergic reactions at the source to help you avoid reacting to pollen and other irritants and breathe clearly throughout the spring flowering season.

How Does Flonase Allergy Medicine Work?

Most Flonase allergy medicines contain a corticosteroid called fluticasone as the active ingredient. This steroid helps prevent the release of various chemicals that trigger nasal congestion, watery eyes and other symptoms in response to common allergens, such as pollen, pet dander and dust mites. Benadryl  and other antihistamines work similarly by blocking the action of histamine, but Flonase blocks up to six allergy-inducing chemicals, making it more effective for many people.

As an allergy medicine, Flonase is particularly effective for hay fever and other seasonal or chronic conditions because it's more suitable for long-term use and may produce fewer side effects than decongestants or oral medicines. Flonase's  Sensimist Allergy Relief is also potentially one of the best products to use if you're sensitive to other nasal sprays, as the gentle mist and milder formulation can help avoid irritation, leaving your nose feeling comfortable and allowing you to breathe clearly when pollen starts to fill the air.

Is Flonase Allergy Medicine Non-drowsy?

Unlike many antihistamines , Flonase nasal sprays relieve allergy symptoms without causing sedation, making them a great option if you need to stay alert or go to work while taking the medication. Although these sprays work through the nose, they also help prevent watery or itchy eyes, sneezing and other symptoms, offering broad allergy protection for up to 24 hours.

Flonase Headache & Allergy Relief caplets, on the other hand, feature a different formulation to target tension headaches, migraines, cold and flu symptoms and allergies all at once. This formulation includes an antihistamine that may cause mild drowsiness in some people. The product is ideal for easing nighttime allergies or cold symptoms as it may help you sleep easier and keep your airways clear throughout the evening.

Can You Take Flonase Allergy Medicine With an Antihistamine?

It's generally okay to combine  fluticasone -based nasal sprays with antihistamines. Your doctor or pharmacist may recommend this combination if you experience hives, itchy skin or other systemic allergy symptoms that nasal sprays don't target. It may take a few days for Flonase to start working fully, and an antihistamine can help control symptoms until it does. Flonase Headache & Allergy Relief caplets shouldn't be taken with antihistamines, however, as this product already contains a type of antihistamine.
