What is a spiral notebook? 

Spiral notebooks are notebooks that are bound using the coil binding method. The pages are bound with a thin metal wire or PVC plastic in a coil-like fashion at the left end of the notebook. Notebooks bound in this way easily lay flat on a desk on either side of the notebook, and are perfect for note taking. This binding style is often used for professionally bound documents that need to be mailed. The front and back of the spiral notebook has a cardboard cover to protect the written contents. 

Can you recycle a spiral notebook? 

Spiral notebooks are recyclable. Because they contain either a plastic or metal spiral binding however, the best way to recycle them is by first removing the spiral binding prior to putting the notebook into your recycling bin. Many recycling centers do not contain equipment necessary to remove the binding and therefore without removing it they will not be accepted at these centers. By doing this one easy step to separate the paper portion from the metal or plastic ring, you will be doing your part to ensure that the notebook gets recycled instead of heading to the nearest landfill. 

How many pages in a spiral notebook? 

Spiral notebooks could have many different page numbers. The standard page numbers for each type of notebook are listed below: 

• 5 subject 200 sheets 

• 3 subject 150 sheets 

• 1 subject 70 pages 

What is a 5 subject spiral notebook? 

A five subject spiral notebook is a spiral notebook that has five different sections that can be labeled for different categories. A standard 5 subject spiral notebook has 200 sheets. The sections are separated by cardboard separators that often have a plastic tab which can be labeled by inserting a small piece of paper into them with the category. For example, if someone was using a five subject notebook for school, they could label the subjects math, reading, writing, science, and social studies.
