What is acidophilus?

Acidophilus is a bacterium found in the mouth, intestine and vagina. It is used as probiotic, which is a good bacterium that is either the same or very similar to the bacteria that are already in your body.

Acidophilus probiotic is commonly used to help treat digestive disorders and vaginal inflammation, as well as promote the growth of good bacteria.

Studies have shown that oral use of acidophilus may be effective in treating bacterial vaginosis, a type of vaginal inflammation.
