Instant Coffee

Instant coffee is made from brewed coffee that has had all the water removed to create dry, powdered crystals. This type of coffee is ideal for busy individuals who don't have time to brew regular coffee in the morning before heading to work. Instant coffee has a longer shelf life and also adds a delicious coffee flavor to desserts and savory dishes. Read on to discover the varieties of instant coffee available online or in-store at CVS.

What are the Best Instant Coffee Brands?

Does Instant Coffee Have Caffeine?

Instant coffee contains caffeine, although the total amount varies depending on the type of bean, instant coffee brand and serving size. Instant coffee has approximately two-thirds less caffeine than freshly brewed coffee because some caffeine is lost during the dehydration process. The caffeine content in a regular cup of brewed coffee ranges from 85-165mg, while its instant counterpart has about 50 -90mg per cup.

If you love caffeine, instant espresso coffee might be a good fit for you since it has a fairly high caffeine content, with 47-64mg per ounce. On the other hand, Maxwell House Original decaf instant coffee, which contains less than 5mg of caffeine per serving, is the perfect alternative for coffee drinkers who don't want a lot of caffeine. In the end, roasters control the caffeine levels in instant coffee by increasing or decreasing the amount in the final product.

What Instant Coffee Is the Best?

The best instant coffee for you depends on your taste preferences and the quality of the coffee beans used by the manufacturer. Depending on your coffee budget, you can buy great-tasting instant coffee that ranges from affordable brands, such as Folgers, Maxwell House and Nescafe, to premium brands, including Starbucks, at CVS. Instant coffee packets are more convenient to use and easy to carry when traveling frequently. Try different instant coffee brands to determine which one gives you the best flavor, aroma and value.

How to Make Instant Coffee

Since you don't need a coffee maker, instant coffee is quick and easy to prepare. In most cases, you add the recommended serving size of instant coffee granules to hot water and mix until completely dissolved. For instant coffee that come in single-serve packets, including Nescafe Taster's Choice single-serve instant coffee packets, pour the packet contents into a mug, add hot water and stir. If preferred, add some coffee creamer or milk and sugar.
