FAQ and Privacy Information

A Privacy Authorization is required if you want to earn rewards on your pharmacy and health activities. The Privacy Authorization allows the ExtraCare® program to access information about your pharmacy and health activities. Without an authorization, the ExtraCare program is unable to calculate and track rewards earned.

A separate authorization is necessary for each person who joins ExtraCare Pharmacy & Health Rewards®. Adults 18 years and older must sign individually; parents or guardians can sign for children under 18.

No. Household members sharing the same ExtraCare® card will only be able to see the membership status for those who have joined, how many credits and rewards have been earned, and how they were earned. Specific medication information will not be visible.

CVS Pharmacy® will use the prescription number, store number, date of birth and ExtraCare® card number to properly match online users with ExtraCare membership to ensure that earnings and rewards are recorded for the correct person.

Canceling your Privacy Authorization will automatically end your membership in ExtraCare Pharmacy & Health Rewards. You will no longer earn ExtraBucks Rewards® for your prescription purchases. Opt Out

You can enroll at the pharmacy counter when picking prescriptions or online at CVS.com®

Yes.

Pharmacy rewards are a benefit of our ExtraCare program, so an ExtraCare membership is required to access these rewards. If you're not an ExtraCare member, join now. Then you'll be eligible to unlock the Pharmacy rewards benefit.

Yes. You can keep sharing the same card. However, only those family members who signed up for ExtraCare Pharmacy and Health Rewards® will earn rewards under the program.

Benefits of joining

Signing up for ExtraCare Pharmacy & Health Rewards allows you to earn up to $50 Pharmacy & Health ExtraBucks Rewards® each year. Earn on prescription refills, vaccinations, CVS.com® activities and more.

The ExtraCare Pharmacy & Health Rewards program rewards you for taking charge of your health by completing select activities, such as prescription refills, immunizations and more.

Everyone can join. Rewards cannot be earned for prescriptions purchased in Arkansas, New Jersey or New York; on any prescriptions for controlled substances purchased in Hawaii or Louisiana; or on any prescriptions transferred to a CVS Pharmacy® in Alabama, Mississippi or Oregon.

No. You can join the ExtraCare Pharmacy & Health Rewards® program for free.

Your rewards

  • Immunizations, including flu shot (3 credits)
  • Create a CVS.com® account and link your prescriptions (3 credits)
  • Add a family member, even a pet (1 credit)

Starting January 1, 2024, you will be able to earn ExtraBucks Rewards 2x faster! The value of each credit is the same, but you will receive $2 ExtraBucks Rewards after earning 4 credits, rather than $5 ExtraBucks Rewards after earning 10 credits. You can still earn up to $50 ExtraBucks Rewards in a calendar year. If you have any questions, or would like more information, please call 1-800-SHOP CVS (1-800-746-7287).

Yes. Your earnings will be applied to the ExtraCare® card that was used when you joined the program.

No. While you earn credits individually, the rewards will be paid out once the combined total of credits on the card reaches 10.  $5 ExtraBucks Rewards® will be available approximately one week after every 10 credits earned. Starting January 1, 2024, you will earn $2 ExtraBucks Rewards when a combined total of credits on the card reaches 4.

ExtraBucks Rewards® will print on the receipt or at the ExtraCare Coupon Center. If you have an online account with us, rewards can be accessed on CVS.com® or on the CVS Pharmacy® app and must be sent to your card to redeem.

They cannot be used to purchase alcohol, bottle deposits, bus passes, copays, ephedrine/pseudoephedrine products, gift cards, hunting and fishing licenses, lottery tickets, magazines, milk (where required by law or regulation), money orders, newspapers or magazines, postage stamps, prepaid cards, prescriptions, any imposed governmental fees and items reimbursed by a government health plan.

The $50 limit is only for rewards earned from the ExtraCare Pharmacy & Health Rewards program.

No. All balances reset at the end of each calendar year.

Rewards will expire 30 days after they are made available to use. This means 30 days from the date the coupon is printed; or if you are a digital customer, 30 days from the moment you choose to send the reward to your digital ExtraCare® account.

Even though rewards tracking at the pharmacy will happen automatically after signing up, we encourage you to scan your ExtraCare card to make sure you get the credits, promotional pricing and 2% back on qualifying purchases.
