MinuteClinic® employs both physician assistants and nurse practitioners who are qualified to handle a variety of health concerns. With the experience and education to do many of the things you have come to expect from a doctor, they will ensure you are properly cared for. Some of the things you can count on include:
- Prescriptions – Both our nurse practitioners and physician assistants have the authority to prescribe medication. Whether they determine you need an antibiotic or you are looking for birth control, they’ll ensure you receive what medications will help you the most.
- Treatment – There are some common minor illnesses that are easily treatable with the assistance of our professionals. They include coughs, heartburn, nausea, pink eye, sore throats and other similar conditions.
- Vaccinations – Our professionals are qualified to administer vaccinations to certain patients. We only vaccinate patients older than 18 months of age, and can provide scheduled vaccines, boosters and the flu shot. Some vaccines we administer include MMR, Hepatitis A and B, Tdap, Pneumonia, and more.
- Examinations – Physical exams from our physician assistants and nurse practitioners range from camp and sport physicals to eyelash lengthening consultations.
There are some instances in which our highly qualified professionals will recommend you be seen by a specialist or Primary Care Physician. For example, if you are looking for a more permanent form of birth control, they will recommend a qualify OB/GYN. If they treat you for a certain disease that needs a follow up, they might recommend you see your Primary Care Physician. In any case, and only with your permission, a record of your visit to MinuteClinic® can be sent to the other doctor.
