ExtraCare® rewards at the pharmacy

Benefits of opting in

The ExtraCare® rewards at the pharmacy benefit is the way to earn rewards for your prescription purchases. Opting in to earn rewards at the pharmacy allows you to earn up to $50 ExtraBucks Rewards® each year for pharmacy activities like filling prescriptions, getting vaccinations, adding family members and more.

Discover all the ways you can earn.

Everyone with an ExtraCare card can join and it is free. Rewards cannot be earned for prescriptions purchased in Arkansas, New Jersey or New York; on any prescriptions for controlled substances purchased in Hawaii or Louisiana; or on any prescriptions transferred to a CVS Pharmacy® in Alabama, Mississippi, or Oregon or Tennessee.

Protecting your privacy

A Privacy Authorization is required if you want to earn rewards for your pharmacy activities. The Privacy Authorization allows the ExtraCare® program to access information about your pharmacy activities. Without an authorization, the ExtraCare program is unable to calculate and track rewards earned.

A separate authorization is necessary for each person opting in to earn rewards at the pharmacy. Individuals 16 years and older must sign separately; parents or guardians can sign for children under 16.

You can cancel your Privacy Authorization, which will end your participation in rewards at the pharmacy, at any time. You’ll still be an ExtraCare member. Opt out of rewards at the pharmacy here.

Protecting your health information

We require your store number, prescription number, date of birth and ExtraCare® card number when you sign up for ExtraCare rewards at the pharmacy online. We'll use this information to properly match online users with ExtraCare membership to ensure that earnings and rewards are recorded for the correct person.

When you first join, your pharmacy record will load your ExtraCare number to link your purchased a prescription (It won't contain any medical information about the prescription) back to your ExtraCare membership. If necessary, your contact information (including your full name, address and phone number) will be used to update your membership.

After you join, your contact information will be used to communicate with you about the rewards at the pharmacy benefit, related new programs and offers.

In addition, we will separately identify each member who opts in to the rewards at the pharmacy benefit — even if you share the same ExtraCare card. While you earn credits individually, the rewards will be paid out once the combined total of credits on the card reaches 4. Your $2 ExtraBucks Rewards® will be available approximately one week after every 4 credits earned.

Household members sharing the same ExtraCare card will only be able to see the membership status for those who have joined, how many credits and rewards have been earned, and how they were earned. Specific medication information will not be visible.

Opting in

Each person just needs to give us one prescription number to join. That'll help us link ALL of your CVS Pharmacy® prescriptions to your ExtraCare® rewards at the pharmacy benefit and you'll get credit when you refill them.

You don't need a new ExtraCare® card to opt in to the rewards at the pharmacy benefit. You can keep using your existing card. If everyone in your family uses the same card, you can all keep sharing the same card. However, only those family members who opt in to rewards at the pharmacy will earn rewards for pharmacy activities.

Note: To protect your privacy, you can't use your phone number instead of your ExtraCare card to opt in. Your ExtraCare number is a unique number tied to your ExtraCare membership; phone numbers are not unique across all cards. If you no longer have your card, call 1-800-SHOP CVS and ask for a replacement.

Earning rewards

Even if someone else picks up your prescription, you'll earn credits toward ExtraBucks Rewards® for your pharmacy activities. Your earnings will be applied to the ExtraCare® card that was used when you opted in to the benefit.

Each person sharing an ExtraCare card doesn't have to earn 4 credits before receiving $2 ExtraBucks Rewards. That’s because while you earn credits individually, the rewards will be paid out once the combined total of credits on the card reaches 4.

Your $2 ExtraBucks Rewards will be issued approximately 1 week after every 4 credits have been earned. Rewards will be on your receipt or can be printed at the ExtraCare Coupon Center. They're also available on CVS.com®. To collect your rewards online, you'll need to have or Create a CVS account and link your ExtraCare card when prompted. Then sign in to your account and go to the ExtraCare savings page.

ExtraBucks Rewards can be used on most items throughout the store.* They cannot be used to purchase alcohol, gift cards, lottery, money orders, postage stamps, prepaid cards, prescriptions or tobacco products.

Each person can earn $50 ExtraBucks Rewards per year through the rewards at the pharmacy benefit. Again, this limit is only for rewards earned for pharmacy activities. Balances reset every year on December 31, which means that your credits expire and you can begin earning again if you reached your earnings limit during the year.
