How to set up Rx delivery

Follow these steps for convenient Rx delivery

Once your account is created, download the CVS Health® app to your phone or sign up online for text alerts* from your account.

  1. Refill your prescription like you normally do. Online, over the phone or in person.
  2. Get notified when your prescription is ready.*
  3. Set up prescription delivery. When your order is ready, you can set up delivery in the app, online, by phone or through the link in the text we sent you.

CVS® offers same-day and 1- to 2-day delivery of prescriptions at most CVS Pharmacy locations. The prescription delivery options available in your area will be displayed during checkout.

Certain medications may not qualify for delivery depending on your location and delivery type. You will be notified during the ordering process if an item is ineligible.

Yes. If your prescription is eligible for same-day delivery, you may be able to add select CVS store items to your order. You can find this option when managing your prescriptions in the CVS Health® app or website.

You can request delivery by calling the store, selecting your delivery options in the CVS Health® app or on the website, or using a link in an order ready text message.*

You can only request to have your prescription delivered when it has been filled and is ready for pickup. You can request delivery by calling the store, selecting your delivery options in the CVS Health® app or on the website, or using a link in an order ready text message.*

Your home or a location of your choice. The delivery address must be in the same state as the pharmacy. In some states, we require a residential address for prescription delivery.

Currently, you cannot schedule your delivery. When the order is placed for same-day delivery, you will receive your order within four hours.

Yes. Delivery is not available for certain insurance and prescription benefit plans. Call your local pharmacy for additional details or to check your prescription's delivery eligibility.

No. The only additional fee that might apply is a delivery fee. Same-day and 1- to 2-day delivery is free with ExtraCare Plus®. Check here for more information.

Insurance plans generally do not cover delivery fees, but may cover the fees in limited circumstances.

In most locations 1- to 2-day delivery is $5.49 and same-day delivery is $9.49. Same-day and 1- to 2-day delivery is free with ExtraCare Plus®. Check here for more information.

Advance payment is required. Your credit, debit, flexible spending account (FSA) or health savings account (HSA) card information can be entered at checkout. In most cases, FSA/HSA cards may not be used for delivery fees.

If you requested 1- to 2-day delivery: CVS Pharmacy® uses national delivery services, including United States Postal Service (USPS).

If you requested same-day delivery: CVS Pharmacy uses local couriers who have undergone a background screening and special training.

Your pharmacy will only share your full name, delivery address and phone number with the courier, for delivery purposes only. To protect patient privacy, no other personal information or prescription information will be shared with the courier or displayed on the tamper-evident package.

If you requested 1- to 2-day delivery:

You do not need to be home as long as there is a safe location available at your delivery address. When a safe location is available, the package will be left in your mailbox or another secure spot.

If no safe location is available, the package will be held at the local post office for up to 15 days, and you will need to either call for a redelivery or pick up the package at the post office. After 15 days, prescription orders will be returned to the pharmacy and you will have to call the pharmacy to have the prescription refilled. Additional delivery fees may apply to redelivery. If your order doesn't arrive as expected, call your local pharmacy.

If you requested same-day delivery:

Yes, someone must be home. If not, the courier will return your prescription order to the pharmacy. Additional delivery fees may apply to redelivery.

Only customers receiving same-day delivery in Manhattan (NYC) will be required to sign for delivery. In some cases, identification will also be required.

If you select 1- to 2-day delivery and place your order:

  • By 3 PM Monday through Thursday: Delivery within 1 to 2 days
  • By 3 PM Friday: Delivery by Monday
  • By 2 PM Saturday: Delivery by Tuesday
  • After 2 PM Saturday through Sunday: Delivery by Wednesday

No deliveries on Sunday or courier holidays.

If you select same-day delivery, you'll receive your delivery within four hours.

  • On weekdays, orders must be submitted four hours prior to store closing and before 4 PM to receive delivery the same day as order placement.
  • On weekends, orders must be submitted four hours prior to store closing and before 2 PM to receive delivery the same day as order placement.

For customers in Manhattan, orders must be placed by 11 AM for delivery by 4 PM and by 4 PM for delivery by 8 PM.

Delivery may not be available on certain courier holidays.

You will get an app notification, email or a text message* when your order is out for delivery.

If you are concerned about your delivered package, received the wrong prescription or have another concern about your prescription, you should immediately contact the pharmacy that filled your prescription.

You will receive written information about your prescription with your delivery. If you have additional questions, contact your pharmacy. Look for the phone number on your prescription label.

  • *FOR RX DELIVERY: Delivery is available for eligible prescription drug orders with qualifying prescription benefit programs and insurance plans. Order cutoff times may vary by delivery option and pharmacy location. 1- to 2-day delivery is available only on orders placed Monday through Thursday. Delivery may be subject to delays. For same-day delivery Mondays through Fridays, orders must be submitted by 4 PM or four hours prior to store closing to receive delivery the same day that the order is placed. For same-day delivery Saturdays or Sundays, orders must be submitted by 2 PM or four hours prior to store closing. For customers in Manhattan, same-day delivery orders must be placed by 11 AM for delivery by 4 PM or by 4 PM for delivery by 8 PM. Not all delivery options are available to every address. Not all pharmacy locations provide delivery (including certain CVS Pharmacy® locations, CVS Pharmacy® at Target, CarePlus CVS Pharmacy® and Navarro® locations). Delivery fees apply and may vary by delivery option and location. Coupons, ExtraBucks Rewards® or in‐store promotions cannot be applied to prescription items in a delivery order. However, they can be applied to eligible front store items added to order alongside prescriptions. Online promotions cannot be used nor ExtraBucks Rewards earned with orders called into stores. Advance payment by credit, debit, health savings account (HSA) or flexible spending account (FSA) card is required. In most cases, HSA/FSA cards may not be used for delivery fees. Other restrictions may apply

  • *FOR TEXT ALERTS WHEN YOUR RX IS READY: Consent to receive SMS messages is not required in order to have your prescriptions delivered. You may receive prescription delivery services even if you do not consent to receive SMS text messages.

  • *FOR ADDING STORE ITEMS TO YOUR RX DELIVERY ORDER: Select CVS® store items may be available to add to eligible prescription delivery orders. Product selection and availability vary by location. Exclusions apply.

  • *FOR EXTRACARE PLUS: Membership is $5 per month or $48 annually plus any applicable taxes. Must have a valid ExtraCare® card to enroll. Membership requires recurring charges to your payment card and automatically renews until canceled. To cancel, call 1-800-746-7287 no later than three days before the renewal date or cancel online anytime. No refunds for monthly or annual membership fees after the recurring charge is processed. Bonus rewards are promotional, have no cash value and are not redeemable for cash. To enable certain digital, shipping and pharmacy delivery benefits, you must have a CVS® account and complete your digital profile online. CVS.com® shipping and same-day delivery are FREE for qualifying orders of at least $10 after the application of any coupons, rewards or discounts and before taxes are applied.
