Founded in 1960, Overland Park had less than 30,000 residents. Today, nearly 60 years later, its population has exploded, and now the area is home to almost 200,000 people. This is in large part thanks to the area’s many attractions, such as the Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, the biking and hiking trails and the art scene, amongst several others. Because Overland Park has a lot going on, it sees thousands of visitors each year. Though this means great things for the economy, it also means the introduction and easy spread of germs. Our MinuteClinic®, located in our CVS Pharmacy® off of Metcalf Avenue and 151st Street, is prepared to help alleviate symptoms of disease, prevent the spread of illness, and treat conditions that have already manifest.
One convenient location for all your healthcare needs
MinuteClinic® is conveniently located down the street from Blue Valley Schools, Overland Park KinderCare and La Petite Academy of Stanley. If your child falls ill while at school, don’t drag him or her to the doctor’s office before bringing him or her home for much needed rest—instead, drop in and we’ll be happy to see your child within minutes, make a diagnosis and inform you of what you need to do to help your youngster combat symptoms and get better.
If he or she needs a prescription or an over-the-counter medication, you can pick up what you need in our store as well. If you or your spouse feels under the weather, or if you have an elderly loved one who needs medical attention, we’re equipped to assist you as well. Some minor conditions that our professionals are qualified to treat include the following:
- Cold, flu and upper respiratory infections
- Mononucleosis
- Ear infections
- Heartburn and indigestion
- Eczema and allergies
- Vomiting and diarrhea
- Conjunctivitis
- Strep
We also perform blood pressure tests and cholesterol examines. If you simply want to get a gauge of your health, come in for a routine physical or wellness check.
Keep the flu at bay with a flu shot
The flu can really put a damper on your week. From fever and chills to muscle aches and vomiting, the standard flu is simply no fun. However, if your immune system becomes even more compromised, you risk developing life-threatening complications such as pneumonia. The annual flu shot, which was designed by researchers to protect against the strain anticipated to go around this year, can help protect against the virus. Though not 100 percent effective, if you do end up coming down with the virus after getting the shot, the immunities can help you overcome the illness faster and prevent potentially fatal complications.
In addition to the flu shot, our MinuteClinic® also administers vaccines for other common and dangerous diseases. Ask our technicians about the MMR, Tdap, Polio and Meningitis immunizations, as well as what others we have in our clinic.
Schedule an appointment or walk right in
Whether you’re a planner or more of a fly-by-the-seat-of-your pants type person, you can count on being seen, diagnosed and cared for within a matter of minutes. If you do want to schedule an appointment, you can do so online or by calling 1-866-389-2727. If you’re just visiting the area and need driving directions from your hotel, ask Google to “find a walk in clinic near me.” "
